Stronghold vs. Advantage Multi (Advocate)

Comparison Between Stronghold Spot-On And Advantage Multi Spot-On (Advocate)

Spot-On treatments are typically easy and effective in treating fleas and ticks in cats and dogs. Multiple new formulas will protect your dog and cat from heartworm and other intestinal parasites. Here, we have compared Stronghold and Advantage Multi.

Stronghold Spot-On and Advantage Multi are topical treatments you need to administer monthly. They kill adult fleas, prevent heartworms from developing, and help control infestations by laying new eggs.

You must get tested for your cat or dog for existing heartworm. As with all heartworm preventatives, these are not considered safe for using heartworm-positive cats or dogs.

Stronghold, known as Revolution in the United States, is a topical medication formulated with the active ingredient selamectin. It offers comprehensive protection against a variety of parasites, including fleas, heartworm, ear mites, and certain ticks and mange mites in dogs, as well as fleas, heartworm, ear mitesroundworm, and hookworm in cats.

Advantage Multi (Advocate), also known as Advantage Multi in some regions, contains two active ingredients: imidacloprid and moxidectin. This combination effectively combats fleas, heartworms, ear mites, sarcoptic mange, and several types of worms in dogs and cats, making it another broad-spectrum option for pet owners.

Stronghold prevents hookworms and roundworms in cats only and kills adult ticks in cats and dogs. Advantage Multi does not kill ticks, but it prevents hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms in cats and dogs.

Stronghold is safe for cats at eight weeks and dogs at six weeks. Advantage Multi is safe for cats at nine weeks and dogs at seven weeks.
