Revolution Spot-On and Advantage Multi are topical treatments you need to administer monthly. They kill adult fleas, prevent heartworm from developing, and help to control infestations from laying new eggs.
You must get tested for your cat or dog for existing heartworm. As with all heartworm preventatives, these are not considered safe for using heartworm-positive cats or dogs.
Revolution prevents hookworms and roundworms in cats only and kills adult ticks in cats and dogs. Advantage Multi does not kill ticks. It prevents hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms in cats and dogs.
Revolution is safe for cats from the age of eight weeks and dogs at the age of six weeks. Advantage Multi is safe for cats at the age of nine weeks and dogs at the age of seven weeks.
