How To Remove Ticks From Cats And Kittens

While cats and kittens generally exhibit more resilience to ticks than dogs, it's imperative to acknowledge that these parasites can still find a home on your beloved pets. Though the likelihood of severe ailments like tick paralysis is lower in catstick-borne diseases can pose significant health risks, even leading to fatalities.

Tick-borne illnesses such as hemobartonellosis, cytauxzoonosisehrlichiosisbabeseosis, and tularemia can afflict cats. These diseases can manifest in various symptoms, including severe anemia, fever, lethargy, lymph node enlargement, abscess formation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and respiratory issues. In severe cases, these diseases can prove fatal.

Topical treatments or collars are often the preferred means of tick control for cats and kittens due to the challenge of administering oral medication to felines. The appropriate product selection depends on factors such as the pet's weight and age.

When applying topical treatments to remove ticks from cats and kittens, it's important to ensure the medication is administered between the shoulder blades and the skin. This helps to deter the animal from licking it off. After application, allow the product to dry thoroughly before exposing the cat to water. Restricting interactions with young children or other pets is also advisable until the treatment is fully absorbed.

It's essential to recognize that comprehensive tick control involves addressing infestations within the household and yard simultaneously for optimal efficacy.

Get Rid Of Ticks On Kittens Younger Than Six Weeks Of Age

Tick treatments typically require pets to be at least four weeks old and weigh a minimum of 1.5 pounds.

For younger cats or kittens below this age threshold, it's advisable to consult a veterinarian for guidance on tick control. Alternatively, perform a thorough visual and tactile inspection of your pet's fur, manually removing any detected ticks.

Two sweet girlies decided to make our deck their home. Mosquitoes are a big problem where we live and we had to get them protected. This was the best bang for the buck. I’ve ordered from 79Pets several times and while delivery is not fast it is very consistent.

After Seresto collars failed to get rid of fleas, I didn't know where to turn. I saw a post on a page I follow (Kentucky Kitty Cats) saying that they use Nexgard Combo for the cats they shelter. I decided to try it and IT WORKS!

Customer photo review of Revolution Plus For Medium Cats 5.6-11 lbs (2.6-5kg)

Last year, I made a visit to the vet. I told them that Kattie/cat had ear mites. They gave me an ointment costing $80canadian. I used it up and purchased another bottle. $160. total not including the cost of the vet visit. No results. The ear mites have been there for a long time. Canadian vets have control of what is sold in Pet stores and you cannot purchase off the shelf products not recognized by them. I jumped at the chance to purchase your produce with a recommended 100% effectivity. I was willing to try, but was suspicions. After a month there was still a little scratching but after 6 weeks, the mites are gone and the scratching is gone. Thank you very much for this mite solution. I recommend it heartily. Harry P.S. Do not tell the Canadian vets as they will outlaw your product.
